The word "sofa" was originally an Arabic word for a raised section of floor, set-aside for council members or distinguished guests. The section was furnished with rugs and cushions. However, the sofa as we know it was developed around the end of the 16th century. Feathers, horsehair and straw were used as filler for these early sofas until the incorporation of springs in 1828. In 1904, the spring sofa on a wooden frame was created. Rubber foam cushions were introduced in the 1920s, which simplified the filling process.

Today all our furniture is still designed and made by professionals trained in handcraft.
The 60’s were the years of a real revolution in fashion and architecture as regards design and decor. These are the years of the pop art style inspired by the artwork of Andy Warhol to create beautiful but also affordable homes, the years of the furniture in fluorescent colors and dizzying patterns and contrasts. In few years, the sofas in fact begin to be made to look like a female body full of curves and in fluorescent colors and patterns. The Modular sofas are introduced and the armchairs follow more pure and essential shapes becoming even more versatile.

The '70s were years of social protests, years in which one tries to understand the importance of freedom, peace and future. In a climate like this style of decor also varies widely towards simplicity, but at the same time becoming much more sophisticated and functional. Strong sense of minimalism that attenuates this style makes it more elegant and refined. The most popular home style of furniture most popular and simple that still loves the colors and the shiny colors and, on the other hand, the style of furniture called “high tech” more sober and essential, but also more sophisticated.

The '80s were years of great aesthetic experimentation that seeks to create furniture that are not necessarily functional but are above all very elegant and beautiful. Even the sofas and armchairs are becoming increasingly essential. The sofas assume linear and geometric forms and are coated with black or brown leather. In addition other types of sofas slowly make their appearance in which special attention is paid to particular features while keeping the shapes simple and basic. During the 90’s, the desire for creativity and innovation was implemented in creation of the armchairs – they are ergonomic, soft, cozy and excellently comfortable. They seem very simple and linear, at first glance certainly much simpler than those made ??in previous years. Convertible sofas of the 90’s allow excellent customization of space and optimal use. Presently, even on situation comedies on television, the sofa or a couch sometimes virtually serves as an additional lead - character in the show. For example: The Simpsons, a television show with which almost everybody is familiar - even if only by reputation. We cannot imagine a time in the future where the sofa or some version of it will be eliminated. Like all furniture that has been designed by people throughout the ages, the sofa is one that is revived, improved, designed by variations on a basic theme - and yet is timeless.
